Join New Mexico Wilderness Alliance & Quiet Waters Paddling Adventures for a relaxing and educational paddling adventure through the Corrales Bosque!
Our outing will begin at 1:00 PM at our offices in Bernalillo with a short safety video followed by distribution of gear before departing to the put-in at the northern end of the Village of Corrales. Launching at about 2:00 PM, we'll spend the next three hours exploring the Rio as it meanders through the Corrales Bosque at spring flow conditions. Recognized by the National Audubon Society as an "Important Bird Area", the Rio Grande in this reach feels exceptionally remote; the west bank is entirely protected Bosque preserve, while the west bank is dominated by Sandia Pueblo lands. The river braids into multiple channels as it flows south, providing a tropical feel.
We'll break for a light picnic along the way (picnic provided), where we'll have an opportunity to discuss some of the issues facing the Rio Grande, as well as the other current projects the staff of NM Wild has prioritized for 2018. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to support NM Wild's ongoing efforts in environmental stewardship.
Guests have the option of meeting us at the pickup at Alameda Blvd at 12:15 PM from where we'll provide transportation to our offices, which will allow immediate departure from the river at the conclusion of the trip. Those living close to Bernalillo, or those traveling from Santa Fe or other northern locales may prefer to drive to our facility instead, and ride back to Bernalillo with our crew at the conclusion of the outing.
