Venue: Cerro del Yuta (Ute Mountain)
Date and Time of Hike: June 16, 2018 @ 8:00AM
Name of Hike:Cerro Del Yuta (Ute Mountain)
Description of hike:
Ute Mountain located in Taos County is a proposed Wilderness in the designated Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. Ute Mountain is part of the federal public land system managed by the Bureau of Land Management, Taos Field Office (575) 758-8851
Our group will enter the mountain on the north face of Ute Mountain. We will approach the mountain from the Colorado / New Mexico border. Since Ute Mountain is true wilderness and no developed trail system is in place, we will utilize game trails to scale the mountain. We will have beautiful views of the southern Rocky Mountain in southern Colorado so bring your cameras.
NMWA will partner with the Bureau of Land Management (Teddy Lucero) on this hike as they will provide an interpretation of the RGDN to give detailed geological information about the area located north of theπ Wild Rivers Recreation Area within the Taos Plateau.
Meet at 8:00AM on June 16th at the junction of NM 522 and NM 196 in Costilla, NM, approximately 20 miles north of Questa, NM. We will meet at the Alta Gas Station on the corner. I will be driving a White 2004 4-Door Chevy Duramax.
