Dayhike
This is a wonderful hike for mid-summer as much of the trail is along the river to a spectacular box canyon, ideal for swimming. We will begin hiking along the river for about 2 miles where the trail then switches back about 200 feet up to the ridge top. After a couple miles of hiking through aspen forest, we will descend steeply back to the river. We will head upstream to a point where the river rushes between the steep walls of the box canyon. We will watch for water ouzels (dippers) – birds that you’ll see darting under water in the river – and also listen for lots of Rocky Mountain chickadees.
