At Latir Peak Wilderness
This two-day stewardship project at the Latir Peak Wilderness in the Carson National Forest will focus on clearing Lake Fork and Bull Creek Trails of downed logs for improved visitor access. We will also rehabilitate sites impacted by camping use, and disperse fire rings against wilderness regulations (those too close to trails or water sources) around Heart Lake and along work trails

When: Saturday, October 5th - Sunday October 6th
Where: Trampas, Carson National Forest

Work will include (time and group size allowing; we may divide tasks amongst smaller groups):

Meet first thing Sat AM at Cabresto Lake; car camping in the area the night before is a great option

A 2-day, 1-night backpacking trip into the Latir Peak Wilderness to Heart Lake

Logouts along Lake Fork Trail, and time-allowing Bull Creek Trail

Wild rec site rehabilitation and fire ring cleanup along the way
Volunteers are asked to bring:

Camping gear (tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, cooking utensils, boots, etc.)

Work gloves (we will have some on hand, but please bring your own if able)

All meals for backpacking trip (full day on Saturday, full day on Sunday)

A positive attitude! No previous experience is needed, all training will be provided on-site
