Group Hike: Cabezon Peak Circumnavigation (Difficult)

At Cabezon Wilderness Study Area

Please join us for a hike around Cabezon Peak to enjoy our wildlands and learn about New Mexico Wild’s current priorities, emerging public lands issues, and wilderness study areas. Located in the Rio Puerco Valley northwest of Albuquerque, Cabezon Peak is the centerpiece of the Cabezon Wilderness Study Area and an iconic landmark in northwestern New Mexico. The landscape around Cabezon is studded with dozens of volcanic necks and renowned for its stunning vistas and opportunities for solitude.

Date/time:
Friday May 16, meet at 10 am and hike until approximately 2 pm
Difficulty: Arduous/challenging due to steep inclines and rough trail conditions
Distance: Approximately 4.5 miles
