Pecos River Earth Day Celebration

In July of 2022, nearly 180 miles of streams and 43 acres of wetlands in the upper Pecos watershed were protected as Outstanding Natural Resource Waters (ONRW)! This Earth Day, we invite you to join us for a two-part event celebrating the river's ONRW designation and the community stewardship helping to keep the Pecos Outstanding!

Details of the day

10 am - 12:30 pm:
Meet at Our Lady of Guadalupe Abbey Monastery in Pecos, NM to join the Dia Del Rio Y Camino Pecos-to-Pecos Community River Clean-Up. This event spans from Pecos, New Mexico to Pecos, Texas, with six locations participating in the Pecos River clean-up:

  • Pecos, New Mexico
  • Villanueva State Park
  • Sumner Lake State Park
  • Roswell, New Mexico
  • Carlsbad, New Mexico
  • Pecos, Texas

1 pm - 3 pm:
We'll meet back at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Abbey Monastery in Pecos, NM to dance, eat, and celebrate the Pecos ONRW designation together in community!

Participants are welcome to attend one or both events.
