Report a Public Lands Issue

In the wake of mass firings of federal public servants working for the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, and Fish and Wildlife Service, New Mexico Wild is asking for help from the public to document the real world, on the ground, implications that these firings are having to the health of the land and to access and safety for the public. As examples, we are looking for information regarding:

  • Reductions in office hours or closures of visitor centers, park entrances, and recreation sites
  • Challenges related to accessing public lands, including closures or locked gates
  • A lack of servicing and maintenance of trash services, toilets, and other amenities or facilities
  • Evidence of abuse or neglect of public lands that could be attributed to reduced management presence, such as:
    • Trespass cows, impacts from grazing, or other issues related to grazing
    • Illegal off highway vehicle (OHV) use and impacts
    • Illegal woodcutting
    • Trash dumping
    • Use of motorized equipment, motorized travel, or mountain bikes in wilderness
    • User created hiking and biking trails
    • Graffiti and vandalism
    • Unattended or abandoned campfires
    • Unmaintained trails
    • Damaged fencing, vehicle barriers, or other infrastructure

To report an issue, please complete the form below, including providing photos and coordinates if possible. Thank you for helping us keep our wildlands wild!
