Petroglyph Hike with Latino Outdoors

10:00 am
La Cieneguilla Petroglyph Trailhead, Near Santa Fe

Join New Mexico Wild for a free community hike at La Cieneguilla to learn about the Caja del Rio and the current threats facing this special landscape.

The Caja del Rio plateau is home to hundreds of Puebloan petroglyphs and some of the most culturally and ecologically significant land in New Mexico — and right now, it needs protection. We’ll be partnering with Latino Outdoors to explore the area, learn about ongoing conservation efforts, and find out how you can help.

We’ll hike approximately 2 miles through La Cieneguilla Trailhead on rocky, uneven terrain, surrounded by ancient rock art and expansive views. Snacks will be provided. Please note there are no bathroom facilities at the trailhead. If gas is a limiting factor in attending, please reach out — we have a small number of gas cards available.

Please bring a reusable water bottle, comfortable hiking shoes, and sun protection.

Where: La Cieneguilla Trailhead

When: May 2, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m.
