Join New Mexico Wild for an acequia clean-up in San Miguel County to help maintain and restore this vital infrastructure while connecting with community members. Acequias are centuries-old, community-managed irrigation systems that remain in active use across Northern New Mexico.
The clean-up will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the Community Center in El Cerrito. Afterward, stick around for a community celebration with lunch and live music. Please bring your own shovel, gloves, hat, and water. If you don’t have your own equipment, we have a limited supply to lend.
A New Mexico Wild staff member will be meeting folks at the Villanueva exit at 7:00 a.m. — join us there if you’d like company on the drive!
