Pack Shakedown: A Day Hike for Backpacking Practice

10:00 am
Sulphur Canyon Trailhead, Near Sandia Park

Join our Wilderness Ranger for a day hike to hone your backpacking skills. We’ll go over what to pack (and what to leave at home), how to get all that gear to fit in your backpack (it’s a science!), and how to fit and adjust your pack to maximize comfort and stability while hiking. Then put theory into practice with a 2-3 mile test hike to get a feel for hiking with full pack weight. Bring your own gear to get personalized recommendations. We’ll also have some loaner gear you can borrow if you’re new to backpacking!
